Errors in a Receipt Printer
If you try to print receipts on a USB printer in a POS system, follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve a connection error or printing problems.

Restart the Browser

Click the three horizontal lines at the top right of the page or on the menu button to print a web page and press the exit. For specific browsers, the ‘x’ button does not automatically exit all tables completely by clicking to close the window tab and may cause printing problems in the window to continue. That’s why you should exit the browser and reopen it to start printing again.

Restart the Windows PC

Rebooting Windows is different from the version of the OS that you have installed on your system. In Windows 7, click Start on the desktop, click the arrow near Shut Down, and select Restart from the options list. You must right-click on the logo icon at the bottom left of the desktop in Windows 8 or later to click Shut Down or Sign Out and select Restart. Cross-check if the receipt printer is shown online when the system reboots.

To search for Windows programs and files, press the Start button and key in Devices and Printers in the search box. Check with Devices and Printers if the printer is identified online. If the printer icon is shown as white, the OS feels that the printer is disconnected. If the printer is not displayed online, go to the next stage.

When Printer is Displayed Offline

When the printer is displayed offline in Devices and Printers, this means that the system is not connected to or unable to communicate with the machine. Follow the troubleshooting steps below.

  • Disconnect the USB printer from the connected PC and connect it to another USB port. This will allow Windows to reset the printer drivers and help identify the printer.
  • Right-click the Tools and Printers printer icon and press Troubleshoot. The built-in Windows Troubleshoot will be introduced, which can help to detect a persistent printing device problem.
  • Disconnect and customize your printer. To do this, unplug the USB cable from your desktop and right-click the printer icon and select Delete. If you want to delete the printer, click Yes on the prompt. You will follow the troubleshooting wizard or the next steps to reconnect the device.
